There have been some excellent wins this year in raising the profile of pathology among the general public and politicians. Thank you to all of those working in pathology who not only do lifesaving work but help us to show how vital pathology is to the healthcare of all Australians. Here are our best bits from this year:
1. We screened 50 politicians for prostate cancer
2. Olympic athlete and soon to be doctor Jana Pittman visited a pathology lab to raise awareness of cervical cancer testing
3. Peta Murphy MP spoke in parliament about the value of pathology after visiting her local lab
4. MP Jason Clare met the pathologist who diagnosed his skin cancer (and histology got a moment in the sun!)
5. The Shadow Health Minister praised pathology on a visit to a Sydney laboratory
